Introduction
to Developmental Disabilities:

A
developmental disability is well-defined as a severe, chronic disability that
is:

1: Mental
or physical injury or a combination and arrangement of both.

2: Physical
impairment before reaches the age of 22.

3: Possibilities
to continue for a long period.

These
disabilities are categorized in noteworthy functional limitations in major life
activities for example:

Self
care. Receptive, Expressive language, Learning, Mobility, Self-direction,
Independent living, Self sufficiency by economically.

Definition
of Developmental Disabilities:

Developmental
disabilities are birth deficiencies related to a problem with how the body
system works.  They may similarly be
called functional birth deficiencies.
Many of these conditions affect several body parts or systems.

Disabilities
for example brain injury, autism, cerebral palsy, as well as additional
neurological impairments may be considered developmental disabilities too. Such
as, autism is a difficult developmental disability that typically appears
during the first three years of life. The result of a neurological disorder
that affects the functioning of the brain, autism and its associated behaviors
have been estimated to take place in as many as 1 in 500 individuals, according
to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Children
and adults with autism typically have problems in verbal and non-verbal
communication, social dealings, as well as spare time otherwise, playing
activities. Persons with autism may reveal repeated body movements (hand
flapping, rocking), remarkable reactions to people or attachments to objects,
and resistance to changes in habitual.

Cerebral
palsy is a condition caused by damage to the brain, generally taking place formerly,
during, otherwise shortly after birth. Cerebral palsy is illustrated by a lack
of ability to fully control motor functions. This may include stiffness and challenging
movements, involuntary and uncontrolled movements, otherwise an anxious sense
of balance and depth observation. Individuals with cerebral palsy may demonstrate
signs of spasms, mobility impairments, weakening in sight, hearing or speech, otherwise
mental retardation.

Down
syndrome, the most common cause of mental retardation is a condition caused by
a chromosomal deformity in which cell development mysteriously results in 47
instead of 46 chromosomes. This spare chromosome disturbs the systematic
development of the brain as well as the body. The level of mental retardation
for people with Down syndrome may range from mild to severe, with the mass
functioning in the mild to moderate range.

Suggestions
to Improve Access and Positive Interactions:

Interrelate
with a person with a developmental disability as a person first.

Avoid
talking about a person with a developmental disability when that person is
nearby.

Concept
should be into small, easy to understand the mechanism.

If
necessary, involve an advocate when communicating with a person with a
developmental disability.
