surah Nuh

Nuh (Noah in Arabic نوح) is the seventy-first chapter (surah) of the Quran. It contains 28 verses (ayat) and focuses on the story of the Islamic Prophet Nuh (Noah). The surah describes how Nuh complained about his people rejecting the warnings given by Allah through him.

Surah Nuh (Chapter 71 of the Quran) narrates the story of the Prophet Nuh (Noah) and his mission to guide his people. Despite his persistent efforts to warn them of Allah’s impending punishment and to call them to righteousness, most of his people rejected his message. Only a few believed and followed him. Ultimately, a great flood was sent as a punishment by Allah, which destroyed the disbelievers and saved Prophet Nuh and his followers. The surah Nuh emphasizes the importance of heeding the warnings of the Prophets and turning to Allah in repentance before it is too late.

Narrated Abu Sa`id:

  • Allah’s Messenger (PBUH) said, “Noah and his nation will come (on the Day of Resurrection and Allah will ask (Noah), “Did you convey (the Message)?’ He will reply, ‘Yes, O my Lord!’ Then Allah will ask Noah’s nation, ‘Did Noah convey My Message to you?’ They will reply, ‘No, no Prophet came to us.’ Then Allah will ask Noah, ‘Who will stand a witness for you?’ He will reply, ‘Muhammad (PBUH) and his followers (will stand witness for me).’ So, I and my followers will stand as witnesses for him (that he conveyed Allah’s Message).” That is, (the interpretation) of the Statement of Allah: “Thus we have made you a just and the best nation that you might be witnesses Over mankind ..” (2.143).
