Bahauddin Zakaria Multani Shrine Multan City Pakistan

The holy
men then present in Multan did not like his coming to that city. They sent a
cup full to the brim with milk, indicating thereby that like the cup in which
there was no room for additional milk Multan had no place for him.

Hazrat
Bahauddin Zakaria Multani placed a flower on top of the cup and returned it to
them. This was to suggest that there was a place for him in Multan as there was
a place for the flower in the cup.

566 A. H., (1170 A.D.) Death: 666 A.H.,
(1267 A.D.)

His grandfather,
Hazrat (Honorable) Kamaluddin Shah, belonged to the tribe of Quraish and had
migrated from holy Makkah to Khwarzam and thence to Multan.  

He was
born in the vicinity of Multan. He began his religious education in Khorasan
and completed it in Bokhara. He stayed in holy Madina for five years and
received his degree in Hadith from Kamaluddin Mohammad Yemeni.

Thereafter,
he traveled to Baghdad and became a disciple of Sheikh Shahabuddin Suharwardy
who made him his deputy and also permitted him to make his own disciples.

On instructions
from his spiritual guide, he came to Multan and was appointed Sheikh-ul-Islam
by Sultan Shamsuddin Iltutmish. He always had a great variety of delicious
dishes on his dinning-mat.

But enjoyed
eating them only when guests and holy men were there to partake of them. He did
not like to be revered but himself greatly revered others. 

When
Hazrat Bakhtiar Kaki visited Multan, Sheikh Zakaria met him with great respect
and veneration.

Khawaja
Bakhtiar Kaki also greatly valued him: when his devotees expressed a wish that
he stayed permanently in Multan he turned it down saying that Multan was Sheikh
Bhauddin’s domain and his presence there was sufficient.

He died
at the age of 100 years and his shrine is in Multan city (Punjab) Pakistan.
