Khawaja Qutubuddin Bakhtiar Kaki Dehli India

The Khawaja
was informed by the governor of Multan that the city was facing complete
destruction by the tartar hordes who had laid a siege to the fort.

He went
up to the ramparts of the fort and saw the vast hordes who were spread as far
as eyes could see.

He ordered
the bowmen to shot arrows and himself prayed to Allah Almighty. This done, the
enemy troops were in total disarray.

Heavy
downpour high winds and terrible typhoon descended upon them and they dispersed
in confusion leaving the fort alone.

Khawaja
Bakhtiar Kaki was the favorite disciple of Khawaja Moinuddin Chishti and the
spiritual guide of Khawaja Fariduddin Gunj Shakar.

He belonged
to a Syed family. After memorizing the Holy Quran and completing his religious
education, he became a disciple of Khawaja Moinuddin Chishti who made him his
lieutenant and also permitted him to make his own disciples. 

On the
instructions of Khawaja Moinuddin Chishti, he proceeded to Delhi and stayed
there with Maulana Hamiduddin Nagori. There, he began making disciples and
directing them on to the path of piety and righteousness.

Numerous
people turned to him and his grace spread to every nook and corner of the
sub-continent. Sultan Shamsuddin Iltutmish was also benefitted from his
personality and attained rare spiritual excellence.

The Sultan’s
devotion to the Khawaja greatly influenced the royal court and the entire
country. The essence of the Khawaja’s teachings was to treat all men with
kindness, and Sultan Iltutmish followed it to the hilt.

But despite
the king’s devotion to him. Khawaja Bakhtiar Kaki did not alter his way of life
even a little bit and remained totally indifferent to money and worldly goods.

His Shrine
is in Dehli (India).
