Shah Waliullah Muhaddis Dehlawi 

He is reckoned amongst the renowned religious scholars and mystics of the subcontinent. After acquiring rational as well as traditional knowledge, he engaged himself in teaching at the age of 17, when his father, Shah Abdul Rahim, made him his lieutenant and also permitted him to make disciples. 

His entire family, since olden times, was considered to be very distinguished for knowledge and grace and had produced unique personalities who rendered great religious service. 

He was born in Dehli four years before the death of Aurangzeb (Mughul Emperor India). His linage goes back to Hazrat Umar Farooq (Second Caliph of Islam), (May Allah be pleased with Him). 

In 1143 A.H, he performed the Hajj and was also blessed with a visit to the Tomb of Holy Prophet Hazrat Mohammad (Peace be Upon Him). 

He stayed there till 1145 A.H and obtained religious and spiritual gains from Sheikh Wafdullah Maliki, Sheikh Tajuddin Qalai, and Sheikh Abu Tahir, and got permission to make from disciples from several Sufi orders, he gave priority to subjects like a commentary of the Quran and knowledge of Hadith in Arabic and religious schools and, in a way, revived these branches of learning. 

He created a consciousness for knowledge amongst the common man. He wrote several books which are highly regarded by learned men. 

Shah Waliullah is amongst personalities on whom research work has been carried out at an international level. He died in Dehli India where he is buried. 

His Tomb is situated in New Dehli India.

مسجد فتح پوری دہلی میں جہاں شاہ ولی الله تشریف لائے اور آپ ہی کے سلسلے کے ایک عارف کامل شاہ محمّد مسعود محدث دہلوی نے دارالحدیث اور دارالافتا ء قائم کیا اور تمام عمر شاہ صاحب تصنیف و تالیف کے کام ہمہ تن مصروف رہے۔

آپ برصغیر کے مشہور و ممتاز علماء و صوفیا میں شمار ہوتے ہیں. معقولات اور منقولات کے تکمیل کے بعد سترہ برس کی عمر میں درس و تدریس میں مشغول ہوگئے. اسی سال والد ماجد حضرت شاہ عبد الرحیم نے ان کو خلافت و اجازت عطا فرمائی. آپ کا پورا خاندان زمانہ قدیم ہی سے علم و فضل میں نہایت نامور شمار کیا جاتا ہے، جس میں دینی خدمات انجام دینے والی یکتائے روزگار ۔۔شخصیتیں پیدا ہوئیں۔

اورنگزیب عالمگیر کی وفات سے چار سال قبل آپ دہلی میں پیدا ہوئے. آپ کا سلسلۂ نسب حضرت فاروق اعظم سے ہے. ١١٤٣ھ میں آپ حج بیت الله اور زیارت حرمین طیبین سے مشرف ہوئے. ١١٤٥ھ تک وہاں قیام فرمایا اور شیخ وفد الله مالکی، شیخ تاج الدین قلائی اور شیخ ابو طاہر سے علمی و روحانی استفادہ کیا اور مختلف سلسلوں سے طریقت میں اجازت لی. شاہ ولی الله نے مدارس عربیہ و دینیہ میں تفسیر قران اور علم حدیث کو اولیت دی اور ایک طرح سے ان علوم کا احیاء کیا۔

انہوں نے عوام میں علمی بیداری پیدا کی. شاہ صاحب کی متعدد تصانیف ہیں اہل علم کی نظر میں نہایت قدر و منزلت رکھتی

شاہ ولی الله کا شمار ان شخصیات میں ہوتا ہے

جن پر بین الاقو امی سطح پر تحقیقاتی کام ہوا ہے۔

 آپ نے دہلی میں وفات پائی اور مزار مبارک نئی دہلی میں ہے۔
