Summary of Quran Chapter 52, At-Tur, The Mount

In the beginning of Surah At-Tur, there is mention of
five categories. Determining the meaning of these categories is one of the
difficulties in the Quran. There is a significant relationship and deep
similarity between Surah At-Tur and Surah Adh-Dhariyat. For example, the style
of both Surahs’ beginnings is similar. At the beginning of both, oaths are
taken step by step, and the subject matter of their oaths is also the same.

surat at-tur

After the mentioning of the oaths in Surah Adh-Dhariyat, it
is stated: Verily, that which you are promised (i.e. Resurrection in the
Hereafter and receiving the reward or punishment of good or bad deeds) is
surely true.

And verily, the Recompense is sure to happen. (Quran
Chapter: 51:5-6).

While in Surah At-Tur, the mention of the oaths sworn
against is like this,

Verily, the Torment of your Lord will surely come to
pass.

There is none that can avert it. (Quran Chapter: 52:7-8).

Afterward,
in Surah Adh-Dhariyat, the qualities of Paradise and Hell are described, and
this theme is also found in Surah At-Tur in a similar manner. Then, in the
second section of Surah Adh-Dhariyat, there is a brief mention of the stories
of the messengers, while in Surah At-Tur, the corresponding reminder is about
the greatness of Allah, His perfect attributes, and His capabilities.
