Introducing
a helpful feature for parents in YouTube
YouTube
has announced the introduction of a new feature for parents, Supervised
Experiences, which will control access to content for children.
In a
blog post, YouTube said the new filters would help parents limit children to
content according to their age.
This
program is being introduced for children surfing outside the YouTube Kids app,
ie in the main app.
The
program is currently in beta and will be rolled out regularly in the coming
months.
In
this program, parents will be able to choose from 3 types of restrictions,
which will determine what kind of content a child will be able to access on
their account.
There
is an Explorer level that the company says is suitable for children ages 9 and
up.
The
second level is called Explore Moore, which is 13 years or older, and the third
is Most of YouTube.
In
the United States and other countries, people over the age of 13 will be able
to supervise their YouTube accounts themselves.
It
is unknown at this time what he will do after leaving the post. But according
to YouTube, V-logs, tutorials, gaming videos, music clips, news, educational
materials, and other content will be kept at Explore level.
There
will be more diverse at the Explore More level, while most of YouTube will
include sensitive topics.
The
program will rely on user input, human review, and machine learning, and the
company acknowledges that this is not perfect and that mistakes can be made.
