Hazrat Syed Waris Ali Shah Deva Sharif India 1822-1905 

    May Allah have Mercy on Him 

    Birth: 1238 A.H, (1822 A.D.) Death: 1323 A.H, (1905 A.D.)

    During his travel through Turkey. Hazrat Waris Ali Shah
    once went to the Royal Garden and indifferent surroundings spread his blanket
    and sat down. By happy coincidence, the sultan of Turkey Sultan Abdul Majeed
    passed by and found him sitting like this queried him about it and he answered
    him in Turkish. At this, the Sultan expressed surprise, but, he told him that
    he who knew the language of the heart conversant with every other language.

    Hazrat Waris Ali Shah was born in Deva Sharif India. He
    memorized the Holy Quran at the age of seven and at age fourteen succeeded to
    his spiritual guide’s station. After performing The First Hajj, he made the
    pilgrim’s attire his dress for life. On a visit to the Tomb of Hazrat Moinuddin Chishti, he put off his shoes out of respect for the saint and, after that,
    never again wore shoes. All his life he slept on the ground. He traveled
    extensively. 

    The Sultan of Turkey was among his devotees, as were some
    European princes. He was modest and did not regard anybody to be inferior to
    himself, nor did he ever ask anybody for anything. He converted to Islam one
    hundred and fifty thousand non-muslims. His message was love. His grave is in
    Deva Sharif India.

    ولادت: ١٢٣٨ھ    بمطابق: ١٨٢٢ء   وصال: ١٣٢٣ھ  
    بمطابق: ١٩٠٥ء

    ترکی میں سفر کے دوران حضرت وارث علی
    شاہی باغ میں بیٹھ گئے. بے نیازی کے ساتھ کمبل بچھا کر زمین پر بیٹھ گئے۔ حُسنِ
    اِتفاق سے سُلطان تُرکی عبدالمجید اِدھر سے گُزرے، تو اس اندازِ نشست پر شاہ صاحب
    سے سوال کیا. شاہ صاحب نے ترکی زبان میں جواب دیا۔ سلطان نے جواب پر حیرت کا اظہار
    کیا تو شاہ صاحب نے کہا کہ جو دل کی زبان جانتا ہے اُسے ساری زبانیں آتی ہیں.
    سُلطان  شرمندہ ہوا اور پھرمحل میں شاہ
    صاحب کا شایانِ شان اِستقبال کیا.

    شاہ صاحب حضرت وارث علی شاہ خاندانِ
    سادات سے تعلق رکھتے تھے. آپ دیوہ شریف بھارت میں پیدا ہوئے. یہ شدید خلفشار کا
    زمانہ تھا اور مُغلیہ سلطنت ختم  والی تھی.
    سات سال کی عُمرمیں قرآن پاک حِفظ کر لیا. چودہ سال کی عُمر میں سجادہٓ نشین ہوئے.
    پہلے حَج کے بعد ہی زندگی بھرکیلئے اِحرام ہی کو اپنا لباس بنا لیا. خواجہ معینالّدین اجمیریؒ کے دَربار میں پہنچے تو فرطِ ادب سے جوتیاں اُتار دیں اور پھر کبھی
    نہیں پہنیں.

    زندگی پر فرشِ خاک پر سوئے۔ ترکی کے
    سُلطان عبدالمجید آپ کے عقیدت مندوں میں شامل تھے۔ یورپ کے شہزادہ بسمارک، شہزادہ
    سرویا اور شہزادہ ملان آپ کے حلقہ بگوش ہوئے. کسی کو اپنے سے کمتر نہیں سمجھا اور
    نہ کبھی کسی کے آگے دستِ سوال دراز کیا. آپ نے ڈیڑھ لاکھ  غیر مسلموں کو مسلمان بنایا. آپ کا پیغام محبت
    تھا. آپ کا مَزار دیوه شریف بھارت میں زیارت گاہِ 
    خاص و عام ہے.
