Surah As-Sajdah

Because verse number 15 of this surah is the verse of prostration. That is, whoever recites it or listens to it, prostration is obligatory upon him. That is why it is named Tanzil al-Sajdah or “Al-Sajdah” or simply “Surah Sajdah”.

In a hadith of Sahih Bukhari, it is said that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) used to recite this surah frequently in the first rakat of the Fajr prayer on Friday.

And in a hadith of Musnad Ahmad (340:3) it is stated that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) used to recite two surahs at night before going to sleep, one is Surah Tanzil al-Sajda and the other is Surah Mulk.
