Summary of Quran Chapter 42, Surah Ash-Shura, The
Consultation

This
is the third chapter of the collection of Surahs [This is the third surah of
the Hawamim collection,
(The precise meaning of
these letters is known only to Allah, and apart from Him, no one comprehends
their exact significance)”
]. Like the previous Makki Surahs, it also
emphasizes the fundamental beliefs of Tawheed (the Oneness of God), Risalat
(Prophethood), and Akhirah (the Hereafter), and describes the definable
attributes of faith. In verse number 38, it is mentioned that Muslims consult
with one another in their essential matters. The Arabic word “Shura”
is used for Consultation, hence the name of the Surah is Surah Ash-Shura
(Qur’an Chapter). At the end of the Surah, it is explained that Allah does not
speak face-to-face with any human being; instead, He communicates through
revelation, and various forms of this revelation are described.
