Summary
of Quran Chapter 17 Surah Bani Israel Surah Isra The Journey by Night

In
the first verse of this surah, it is stated that it was revealed after the
event of Ascension. Although it is difficult to determine the exact date of the
event of Ascension, the tendency of most traditions is that the great event
took place ten years after the revelation of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon
him) and three years before the migration. By this time, the message of Islam
had reached not only Arab pagans, but also Jews and Christians. In this Surah,
by quoting the extraordinary event of Ascension, irrefutable proof of the Prophethood
of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) has been provided.

This is followed by the story of
the children of Israel, how they twice faced humiliation and destruction at the
hands of the enemy for disobeying Allah. Thus, the Arab polytheists have been
taught to refrain from opposing the Holy Qur’an, otherwise, they too may have
to face this kind of fate, because at present the Holy Qur’an is the only book.

Which

number From 22 to 38 Muslims have been given very important instructions about
their religious, social, and moral conduct. And their objections have been
answered by condemning the irrational and hostile behavior of the polytheists,
and the Muslims have been instructed to keep on worshiping Allah, trusting in
Him.

Because
the beginning of the surah mentions two important events that happened to the
children of Israel. That is why the name of the Surah is Surah Bani Isra’il.
And its other name is also Surah Al-Isra. Isra is the journey of Ascension, and
especially the part of this journey in which Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon
him) was taken from Masjid-e-Haram to the Masjid-ul-Aqsa Dome of the Rock (Baitul
Muqaddas). Since the beginning of this miraculous journey is mentioned, it is
also called Surah Al-Isra.
