Summary of Quran Chapter 67 Surah Al Mulk Dominion

The main theme (including surah al mulk) of almost all these surahs is the confirmation of the basic beliefs of Islam.

From here to the end of the Qur’an there are mostly Meccan surahs (Meccan Chapters). The main theme of almost all these surahs is the confirmation of the basic beliefs of Islam, namely, Monotheism, Prophethood and the Hereafter, the conditions of Heaven and Hell, and giving instructions and comfort to the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) for the propagation of Islam.

Since these are shorter surahs than the previous surahs, there is no need for a separate introduction of all these surahs. However, in those surahs where an introduction is required, their introduction will be offered.

surah al-mulk

Surah al-Tahrim was the last surah of the sixth group of Meccan Madani (Madinah, city in Saudi Arabia) surahs. As a reminder, note again that this group begins with Surah Qaf. This group includes seven Meccan Surahs from Surah Qaf to Surah Al-Waqi’ah and ten Madani Surahs from Surah Al-Hadid to Surah Al-Tahrim.

This surah begins the last group of Meccan surahs. The first six surahs of this group are divided into two sub-groups. Each sub-group has three surahs, of which one is unique and two are in couplet form. Surah Al Mulk is the unique Surah of the first sub-group. Regarding the comprehensiveness of its subject, this surah has the same place in this group as Surah Qaf in the previous group.

Surah al Mulk was very dear to Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). His routine was to recite this surah before going to bed at night. Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) has also given special advice to the Ummah to follow this.

Surah Al-Mulk: The great virtues of Surah Al-Mulk have been described in the Holy Hadith, it was called “Al-Manjiyyah” (the one who saves) and “Al-Waqi’ah” (the one who protects). The recitation of this blessed surah is a cause of relief and salvation from the punishment of the grave. In its beginning, Allah Almighty explained the wisdom of life and death and that its purpose is to test the servants to see who is the best on the scale of action.

Hadith About Surah Al Mulk

Narrated Ibn ‘Abbas:

One of the companions of the Prophet (PBUH) pitched a tent on a grave without knowing that it was a grave. Suddenly he heard a person from the grave reciting Surah al-Mulk till he completed it. So, he went to the Prophet (PBUH) and said: ‘Oh Messenger of Allah, I pitched my tent on a grave without realizing that it was a grave. Then suddenly I heard a person from the grave reciting Surah al-Mulk till he completed it.’ The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said: ‘It is the defender; it is the deliverer – it delivers from the punishment of the grave.

I heard the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) saying, “There is a Surah in the Qur’an which contains thirty Ayat which kept interceding for a man until his sins are forgiven. This Surah is ‘Blessed is He in Whose Hand is the dominion.’ (Surah Al-Mulk 67).
